Update

Sorry to have gone a bit quiet on this lately folks, new bits and bobs and injuries getting in the way !

Anyway, the next batch of 20 are waiting to anodised, this should be done early in the coming week, so i expect to have them towards the back end of the coming week or early the week after. I will keep you posted.

Just been looking back through the thread, and i've noticed that i've missed an important bit of info out regarding the spec of the rack - the rack itself is manufactured from 5251 (N4) grade aluminium. This is much tougher than run-of-the-mill 1050, but remains workable. This is why the rack is so stiff despite being only 4mm thick. Thought it was worth mentioning.:)

I've updated my original post to include this info.

They are strong indeed - I needed to make use of a large Givi top case on my bike recently, simply bolted a spare Givi top case rack to Pete's superb luggage rack and away I went. Best of both worlds!

Pete,
had a good read through all the posts and clearly you've produced a quality product with the rack. Great effort!! Unfortunately, I paid out for the TT large rack and although the quality is good I really wish I had waited for yours. They are a complete shower of sh*te and couldn't organise a p*ss up in the obvious place!

Anyway, I'd be interested in the other items mentioned and hopefully you'll find the time to get them together. One thing's for sure, TT ain't getting a penny more from me!!

P.S. I've got a set of footrest adaptors from TT but cannot bring myself to shell out for the larger footpegs (how much!!)......don't suppose you fancy making some of those too??

cheers
Skippy

Peatbog 08-06-09 15:57

Skippy/Lairyboy (how many nicknames you got man?)

thanks for the comments :)

other items are in the pipeline -proving to be a long pipe tho. watch this space.

re footpegs, hmm probably not to be honest, not at the moment anyway. never say never tho.

Pete.

How about some 'Desert Specials'

Though I confess - I have an interest .....:hidesbehindsofa[1]:

I can recommend the IMS superstock footpegs (have those on my bike now) - if you get the version for YZ80/ WR200/250 90-97 (that is pn.23-9307 according to Thumpertalk: http://shop.thumpertalk.com) they fit straight on the Tenere...

They ship to the UK no problem, although you might be able to get them from a UK supplier too of course...

Lairyboy 09-06-09 10:07

Pete - its not the double nickname I'm worried about but all the other things my 'mates' call me........not for repeating here! And I'll certainly be keeping an eye on your product line.

JMo - thanks for the tip on the footpegs, I'll have a look straightaway - I'm at work so what do I care!!

How about a nice alloy chain and front sproket guard. I like the racks i will be in touch about one of them soon. Have you considdered the lowering links i just bought a set at 90 quid? they look simple enough to make and after looking at the thread with lowering the tenere i am sure you would do quite well with them. Good luck and keep up the great work

chain guard is on the 'maybe' list, not near the top mind.

90?!?!?! wow, are they covered in gold leaf? Metal Mule do a laser cut, zinc passivated set for 20, for this reason i had decided not to do them as you cant really make them a different design, lowering links aren't exactly the most complex item, and at that price i doubt i can really do much better. where did you get yours from?

thanks for the encouragement btw :)

Sartois 09-06-09 12:37

Heh, your success is being your undoing Pete, your message folder is full. :)

Summarising my message then, I'd love to get one of your anodized black racks if possible.

Thanks,

Alex

Peatbog 09-06-09 15:26

Hey Alex, yea sorry about the inbox- i keep making space by deleting sent items, but i'll have to have a proper tidy up in there!

Rack? no problem - i'll let you know when they land, thanks for the interest.

cheers,
Pete.

Got my Links from Hyperpro, I did not think the 20 quid 25mm would lower the bike enough. So i went for the 40mm, bit of a rip off for an extra 15mm. When i got them i was expecting to see something a bit special for that money but no. The 40 mm link is fine maybe once the bike has done a few more miles it will drop a little but i feel safer being able to plant my feet just now and may go back to the originals later.

Fair enough, if thats the height you need then what can you do? i hadn't realised you had wanted to go as low. Maybe there is a market then... for links with more than one setting. :)

I see Off-The-Road are offering a complete lowering kit (-85mm!!!) including a rear shock, front springs, fork oil etc. It's not cheap (around 550 at the current exchange rate) - but I imagine it is worth it (a new rear shock alone is usually that sort of money) if you really want a low-rider Tenere? - they say the seat height is now only 835mm!

Way back last year I offered to make some adjustable links with rose joints but had no takers. Ah well.

I thought i would be better off on the Ten than i was on my WR450 i guess the width of the seat is why i cannot get my feet on the ground. Now i am beginning to feel like i am 2 ft of legs and 3'11 of body. guess i must be an odd shape. LOL oh well at least i still have my humor

not a bad idea - my own experiences with rose joints would put me off tho TBH. i was thinking more of the same sort of setup as standard - flat plates, just with more than one set of holes.

Tom, have to ask - whats the new avatar? if it's one of those magic eye thingys - i can't see 'em, got a bong eye!

Peatbog 24-06-09 00:33

eventually!!

Sorry for the delay folks, for a variety of reasons its taken a while but I eventually have some more racks in stock. I have 5 of each colour, with another 5 of each to follow soon.

I have sent PM replies to all who have enquired, I think. If i missed you out i'm sorry - please snd me a PM.

likewise anyone else just drop me a PM and i'll send ordering instructions.

cheers :023:

I've just got my first piece of 'bling' for my 'Ten'... but at least it's purposeful.

Peatbog 01-08-09 23:28

pleased you're happy with it :)

For info -
i currently have one silver and one black left before the next set, which will be in about 10 days(ish). buying should soon be easier as i think i'm gonna put them on buy it now on ebay.

Pete

Peatbog 03-08-09 09:24

no black left now....

Peatbog 18-08-09 20:32

1 Silver rack going cheap

I've got one silver rack which is a faulted one, thought it was ok but it's not. Its not much - there's a knock on the leading edge and the dressing on the edges isn't as good as it could be, although that doesn't really show on the picture. It's just as strong as any of the others and it's still anodised etc.

first 33 gets it, plus postage.

pics below. PM if interested.

cheers
Pete
