Ok first you need to LOWER YOUR CAPS
Then you fit your lowering tool to that other tool in the kit which makes the leverage larger and you should be able to do one notch at the time without need to remove the wheel. Good luck |

Yep, as the Capt says no need to remove wheel, but there isn't a lot of room to manouver your c spanner in.
I'm forever adjusting my preload what with the missus and kids having goes on it. I think I might just set it to position 3 and leave it there to save the trouble in future. The suspension still seems plenty soft enough 1 up when on 3. |

Anyone know where I can get a C spanner from? It sounds like you guys are using one that comes standard with the bike? Mine never had the factory toolkit. I presume I should speak to Yamaha? Any ideas how much?

You're only going to use it the once, aren't you? So unless some of us live close to you and can lend it to you to use it, just pop down to your Yamaha stealer and ask them if you can borrow it.
( then leg it!!) Last edited by CaptMoto; 03-08-08 at 11:42. |

You can do it with everything on,with the standard tool, although a bit of a squeeze it works!

A bit of my experience!
I have fit a centre stand on my bike from OTR.When I lift my bike, the rear wheel hangs and the rear spring loses the bike's weight preload, making spring's preload adjustment way to easy. So,for those who don't have a centre stand, you have to lift the bike, leaning it on the side stand and do the preloading.(I know this is the trouble way) A friend of yours must assist you on that. Hope I help! |
