Seeing as captmoto made this new section of the forum for us campers or wanna be campers i thought i would put some of my info on the board.

When camping everyone likes to do a bit of cooking but being on the bike means restricted space and weight. I always used the really slow trangia cookers that take meths or metholated spirits in the burner with there all in one kit for my Duke of Edinburgh stuff with the BB. But it was stupidly slow and was quiet big and bulky, as can be seen from the link below. They are good in the sense of they are sort of fail safe, ie add meth, light away you go.

But they are bulky and slow to cook and really only used for people who do back packing.

At the moment i have a kit very similar to the trangia pots and pans but bought it from argos for about �15 and took the kettle out. Is doing the job rightly and packs down into around about the same size, but with space in the middle for things like matchs, cleaning stuff etc etc.

For a burner i am using a colemans gas burner that attachs it self on to a small gas bottle similar to the link below. Very use ful as both dettach from each other forming smaller easier to carry items. Down side is you have to carry a gas container, it can be fiddly getting them to connect and you normally have to have it running full wack to get it to boil quickly but once boiling is ok. Also the gas is limited by how quick you heat stuff.

It is still a good item and alot of people use them and preferr these gas containers to other means but certain places like africa you just cant get a gas container like this for love nor money.

So my next plan it to get a petrol burner from colemans similar to the one in this link

They are easy to use fill up with petrol, pump it up for pressure and light. They all seem to boil alot quicker than the others and are robust enough to take on a bike. Depending on how much you want to spend depends on size, the one in the link is quiet big but is only around �35. But you can buy ones up to �150+ which are tiny and do the same job. As for me i think i will go middle of the road and buy something that can dettach form the petrol container allowing for easier packing.

Price for all 3 vary but the trangia kit is normally cheapest at around �70 all in, all you have to do is buy some meths (cheap), the gas is middle of range but as explained before containers run out quickly in heavy use. Petrol burners are normally the most expensive but run on petrol (same as bike) and last for ever, and cook the quickest.
