Clutch adjustment
I wanting to ask..should the clutch lever have any slack in it?..mine has approx 10ml of movement before any bite when measured at the pivot end.
I know the owners manual says 10-15ml play in it but that's at the end of the lever. Should the lever be fully closed with no gap at pivot end? I'm used to the adjustment being at the pivot end tbh. |

Yep, you need at least 2 or 3 mm of gap / free play at the pivot end where the lever meets its housing. You should be able to 'feel' the free play (by hand) on the actuator arm on the clutch casing. If you push that arm forward you'll notice the difference between free play and where it engages. If you can't feel free play then you need to adjust.
This ensures you won't be in a permanent state of 'slipping' the clutch which would, if left unchecked, cause premature damage to the plates. You can adjust the required slack by using the knurled thread nut and lock ring on the clutch lever and also at the other end of the cable (12mm spanners I think) to balance out the cable outer sheath position to give you at least 5 to 8+ mm of thread on the knurled lever adjuster bedded in its lever mount. I think you could dial out some of your free play. Some peopes like a lot (like yours) and some like an 'instant' action, but free play of some measure is a must.

Cheers Chalk..I have been out and about Derbyshire today and noticed two things, apart from the beautifull scenary and cold that is.
After adjusting the Kev fuel mod back from 6 to 5 the bikes pulling smooth and crisp. Very happy. Idle has dropped and that combined with the clutch query too much slack I stalled the bike at slow speed manoeuvers in traffic four of five times..sphincter clenching moments to say the least. |

Nikroc....for me, it was the idle that caused me a few 'foot down, engine's' stopped, moments when I go off road in the fire trails here. I had to turn it up to 1500 on the dash / 1450 on the diagnostic FI tool to prevent that phfffut-and-fall moment, which ain't good 6000 foot up a mountain side where barriers ........barriers, don't make me laugh.
