Thanks for the welcome, OK 2005 xt660x 12, 000miles, I've had the issue with the final drive nut so stripped and torqued back up to 110nm, within 2 weeks of local commuting it sounds like it's back again, any of you guys had the same problem??? Is there likely to be anything else causing it to come loose, any thoughts would be great as apart from doing a full strip to find out I'm a little stumped.

Did you replace or refit the locking tab washer at the back of the nut?

Honestly didn't think I'd need to with it cranked to 110nm and the 2 locking tabs, will use lock tight n see if that helps Thanks.

Refitted it using both locking tabs as only one of the tabs had been used previously

To answer your question about 'repeat' problems after re-torquing, there have been occasions of this but I think reoccurrences didn't happen as quickly and as yours. As to why something 'backed off' when it's tab-locked was put down to micro expansion of the shaft.

If you're getting that same rumble from the front right case again I think I'd be gutted but I'd have to have another look.....and buy a new tab washer from AJ Suttons for a few pence........unless it's a water pump bearing.

Once again thanks for the reply, have stripped again today and found exactly the same problem with the nut, however the locking washer was still as tight as when it was re fitted last time?? I did a little more digging this time with the nut and washers out the way, the three gear wheels on the shaft move a little on the woodruff key and shaft ?? Is this normal for xt's as all the keys I've seen in the past have locked whichever pulley,/gear they have been holding on solid, even with the nuts etc removed.
