High mudgaurd conversion

I've just done a front end conversion to YZ USD Forks and put the high mudgaurd on it.

I suspect the temperature gauge is now running 5 degrees warmer on the cooling water. It seems to get hotter quicker at slow plonking pace (albeit it is summer and temps are warmer anyway...)

Has anyone who's done the conversion had temperature issues and had to slot the gaurd infront of the radiator?

I was thinking of cutting slots and heating it up to fold them up to allow air through. Any other tricks tried?
