Bought an XTX with over 46,000 kms - worth opening engine/other service requiredd?

Glad to become part of this community!

I just put down deposit on a '08 XT600X with 46,000 kms on it.

The bike looks and sounds like it's in good condition, the previous owner definitely didn't mind spending some money on it: It has USD forks, power commander, and a couple more mods.

I test rode it already and didn't find any issues - it was running very well.

However, because it is after all Vietnam, and things run a bit differently here, he doesn't have such thing as complete service history of the bike.

The engine has never been opened as far as he knows.

I've read somewhere on the forum that you might need to replace the rings after 50,000 kms.

I don't really mess with bikes at all and leave all jobs to a mechanic here. All I want is a reliable machine and not having to worry about my bike breaking down in the middle of Vietnam while I'm on a trip.

I'd rather be safe than sorry. Despite bike's good running condition, would you still have the engine opened up and checked/serviced? (Rings, pistons, etc.)

I looked at the service manual but it doesn't really refer to many engine's integral parts. It also ends at 40k km.

Are there any other things I should be concerned about to open up and inspect (& replace if needed)?

Thanks and much appreciated!
