Rotopax Storage Box

Way too hot to ride here on the East Coast of NSW. So hot in fact, that the State Forests and National Parks have been closed due to the very high possibility of extreme bushfires.

Will be riding with a group of fiends to the Victorian High-Country in a couple of weeks, so decided to use the down time to replace the Hard Case on my rear rack with a Rotopax Storage Case.

Had originally intended replacing my Cheap & Nasty Hard Case with a Genuine Pelican IM 2100 case. Whilst the PelicanCase is a far superior product, the downside with a hard case arrangement is that it is permanently attached to the bike, which leaves it open to possible theft etc, particularly on overnight/multi-day rides. I have already had one attempt to access the case to date, and that was with the bike parked just outside my motel room..

Anyway, the original hard case was cheap and nasty, so not really an issue scrapping it.

Mounting up the Rotopax was a straight forward exercise, but could have been easier if the mount kit came with a template for the hole positions.

The internal shape of the Rotopax Storage case is a little unusual, mainly due to the location of the centre mount, however there is plenty of room if you are organised when packing.

The big advantage of the Rotopax system is, I now have the ability to add fuel/water containers when needed. Plus, it is has a lower profile than a hard case, making it easier to throw a leg over.....

The only limitation is that it is not 100% waterproof, but will be as near as, once I fit some sealing rubber around where the lid joins the base.

It fits nicely and mounts securely on the B&B tail Plate

Plenty of room if care is taken when packing. That is a "FULL" Kriega tool roll in there!!!.

There are some unusual mouldings on one end which allow you to lock two Rotopax units together. Highly unlikely I will ever do that, so in my case, I will use the little pockets to mount a UHF antenna and squirrel small items,
