The Wet One

4 months of continuous sunshine the day I picked to go for a ride I get this !

Oh well you win some you lose some headed out anyway.

Water water everywhere...

'Pooratech' top box ready for action again, now with redesigned external thermos storage as it leaked over the map inside laying down last time, & camp stool.

The intention was to take some dirt roads out the back of the Boyne Valley to find an old gold mine site. But plans changed to stay on Tarmac with an updated weather review..

Rural residents are very innovative/creative with their letterboxes...

At least the rain is good in bushfire season. It's also the closet to Autumn colour as we get...

My boots at this point resemble a foot spa + everything else would be dryer if I'd swum the English Channel. With the thermos now empty (my Achilles heal, lack of a nice cup of Rosie Lea, things can get ugly! ) & juggment waining time to head for home once the gloves had warmed a bit...

Ride safe & thanks for looking in ;-)

Nice to get out despite the rain.
At least it's not that cold in that part of the world, although wet clothes on a bike and an empty thermos can sort of take their toll, ha ha.
Thanks for sharing, Ken.

Ever heard about Goretex? Anyone living in the UK knows the stuff well and its a lifesaver. But then we have wet and cold to deal with.

It was nice to be out despite the rain. It rarely rains continuously like that though, I've been caught out in it before, you get wet for a bit then it stops & you dry out again very quickly. I have heard of Goretex Jacques, but for how often I'd need it it would be sitting in the cupboard most of the year. I did have a plastic shopping bag with me so used that to cover my chest when the wind picked up. When we first moved to Oz I never wore jeans for the first 3 or 4 years. But the old body has become a accustomed to it now. I spend a lot more time riding in the heat so my gear is more suited for that now.
& yes Pepsi the abundance of places to sit on a rock to stare into space is fantastic, just need a bit of mozzie repellant at times!! What are the bugs like where you are?
The local bike shop I go to does now have some nice RST Jackets & Trousers in since a couple of riders past through from Melbourne raving about them. If they are well vented they could be on the Santa list!! Cheers Fella's.

Thanks for the tip on the 'Skin - so - soft'. Sandflies here can be a pest to but apparently the vitamin b from eating vegamite helps with them. But I think I would be inclined to carry a baseball bat to deal with your wasps, or just take a bit more tucker to go round! I'm glad I don't have to worry about things called Putsie's from Zimbabwe. You have to iron absolutely all your washing after it's been hanging on the line. While it's hanging up wet a certain fly comes along lays it's eggs in the seams of things. So if you don't iron & kill them they hatch when you wear the garment then burrow under the skin. If you pop the blister that follows to early they little blighters end up in your blood stream. Nice.
