Oil change

Yesterday I did the first oil change as the bikes now just out of warranty.....suffice to say it's probably the most complicated bike I've ever had in this regard.by the time I finished both I and the garage floor were looking pretty ****....the flow from the oil tank took me completely by surprise...was expecting a steady dribble but instead got a spurting torrent 3 feet long. Then the refill process requested in even more spillage. Finally, to check the flow? I over loosened the nut on the top of the oil filter housing with the engine running...big mistake....the oil pressure blew the screw out across the garage and another fountain in my face. Had to use my thumb to cover it while I scrambled to turn off the ignition. Anyway all is well. Used to think I was OK at home mechanics......
