Question Whats the deal with this plug ?

Wile routing wires under the tank for the aux lights and power socket, I noticed a stray plug not attached to anything. It's located somewhat to the left side of the bike (at least that's where I took the photos from)

From what I can see without removing the tank, it's been unplugged for quite some time. It's got some sort of insulating tape on it's end and some dirt on it.

Could somebody enlighten me as to what does said plug do? should I worry about it / take some action ?

The fuel pump plug was my initial thought also.

BUT...

- the fuel pump plug is a rather intense green while this is more of a blue
- I doubt the bike would have functioned properly for more than 2.000km without an active fuel pump

Of course, safest bet would be to actually remove the tank an look for myself, but since the tank is almost full and Yamaha made sure the operation is as complex as it gets... said I ask around first.

Interesting that someone should have disconnected the AIS plug. Unless the AIS valve and plumbing has been removed completely and been blanked off a the exhaust ports it's a pretty pointless exercise.

Unplugging the AIS connector does not disable the AIS as such and certainly won't stop the backfiring on the overrun - it'll make it worse. All that unplugging it does is leave the AIS valve permanently open allowing air into the exhaust ports downstream of the valves all the time. It cannot close unless there is power to it.
