Hello!

Hi all,

Dan here from the West Midlands in the UK! Just joined the forum a few days ago before I picked up my 660x, am loving it! So comfortable, it's like riding an armchair! Red '05 model with 18,000 miles on the clock, but very tidy! 2 lady owners and SORN during winter!

I've wanted a 660 since I did my CBT back in 2010 (had the XT125R as my first bike). I've ended up with a UK A2 licence, (limited to 47hp / 35kw), so have been riding a restricted Bandit 600. Luckily enough though, the 660 makes bang on the power limit, so no faffing with restrictors! I'm stoked to finally have my hands on one!

I've primarily joined looking for a fix for the infamous surging problem, I have been reading through the sticky on the performance/modification section and will be going through those steps after I've replaced the air filter, but am enjoying reading through other threads and seeing others' experiences with these bikes. Will also be looking for some exhaust cans, so was interesting to find out about MTC!

But yes, glad to be here - you seem like a friendly bunch

Cheers

Hello dude. I've got the 06xtx and I've fitted a kev mod and stage 2 dna filter. Raised the co by 8 and its helped loads. Still not the smoothest so I need to play around a bit but much improved. Kev mod took a couple of weeks to arrive so order one soon lol

Thanks for the welcome guys

I was cleaning the drive chain yesterday, was disgusting! Cleaned a lot of crap out from behind the sprocket cover, and the little chain roller was pretty sticky. I noticed the chain was pretty tight. I actually thought nothing of it at first, seemed normal, about 1 inch of slack, but reading through the manual, the slack should be 40-55mm? Seems excessive to me, but still, I've adjusted it to that. I think the cush drive rubbers are gone as well, lots of play in the sprocket housing so I guess those are contributing to my surging.

I've raised my co by about 5, I would say that has helped a little. I will likely invest in the Kev mod, but I guess I should stay away from performance mods like air filters since it would theoretically put the power of my bike over my licence limit! I still want an exhaust though, that's definitely happening!
