Michelin anakee3

Anyone any experience of Michelin Anakee III?
I've just fitted a set to the XTZ as a replacement for the Dunlop Trialmax.
The Dunlop's were very good but I'm only getting about 2000 miles out of a rear so I thought I'd try something else.
The tyres were fitted today and I couldn't believe how skinny the front looks. It's like a mountain bike tyre! It's the correct size but it just look really weedy and leaves load of space under the mud guard.
I had read on an American forum that the tyre looks a bit skinny and they weren't wrong.

I've just been out for a quick run and the handling is fine, it goes where you point it and reacts quickly to input from the bars, skinny front doesn't seems to make any difference to grip but I'm just scrubbing it in. The tyres do seem to roll with less vibration than the Dunlop's and thats probably due to less nobbles and more rubber on the road. Conditions were warm and dry.

I will give them a work out this week and report back .

Michelin anakee 3

Done over 100 miles on the anakee 3's now and the grip is impressive, lean angle is greater than before ( toes dragging on the road) and good grip in the wet.
They don't deform / flex in corners like the Dunlop's and feel more planted.
I can't think of any negatives yet except the front tyre looks too skinny.

Rear experience only

Had a new one on the rear for about 500 miles which came on the bike when I bought it a few weeks back. (I've now changed to something chunkier for off-road.) They so look skinny, but bike handled great on it and felt very sure-footed. Off road on hard packed (but a bit loose) 4x4 tracks I was amazed how much grip there was for a tyre that looks like a road tyre. Wouldn't want to see any mud with them on though. If I was 90% road-riding, or knew my off-road would be very sedate and predictable, I'd fit them without hesitation.

Had Anakee3 on my Ten for a long overlandtour. The rear lasted around 13-14 k km but would have lasted much longer if I have had the correct air pressure in the tyre. I had a slow leak and a heavy loaded bike so it didnt feel it that much.

The front tyre is still on and belive it or not folks - it has done around 30 k km and I still can do a few more km on it. Very very impressing!

Handling and grip feels above average for this kind of tyre, but its of course not suitable for any offroad riding. A not too bad gravel road is ok, but nothing more.

The Anakee 3 fronttyre finally came off the other day. It had rolled approx 33 k km. I even think that I could have squesed a little more out of it if neccesary.
Very impressive. And grip and handling has been generally good and above average I would say. It looked like this just before coming off.......

I just stuck a set on - haven't managed to get a spin on them yet but they'll be better than the tkc80 and k60 combo that came off it. I use the bike mostly for commuting so I'm interested to see how the handle wet roundabouts...
