Hi mate,
Could be that after the winter storage the clutch plates are sticked together. Does the clutch feel "harder"? I would suggest you drain the oil, open the clutch, and take out all disks, clean each thoroughly and put in oil one by one, and reassemble. Beware to keep the order as the last disc towards the crank shaft is thicker. This should cure the issue. Had similar problem before. Keep us posted. Regards

easy as.... lay the bike on it's side...
remove the outer side cover.. then undo the 6 bolts holding the pressure plate on... lift the plates out keep track of there order in the basket when you remove them.. when you put the outer case back on..make sure the dot on the arm & the dot on the case line up... before you pull the plates out make sure there is free play in the clutch cable & it's not holding the clutch stack slightly open... My thread on putting a rekluse clutch in the XTR... the pics will give you a idea of whats in there.. http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...reKluse+clutch tools required are a 8mm & 10mm socket , maybe a new gasket for the case... A set of EBC heavy clutch springs & do Mr Bilgbay clutch lever mod "lengthen" would also be a good idea.. http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...ghlight=clutch

Hi,
Here is a link of the service manual. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...e%20Manual.pdf The job is easy and you do not need spacial tools. Remove the tank to avoid fuel spill, and lay the bike on the left side, than unbolt the bolts holding the clutch cover on the engine. Make sure you remember which comes from where as they are with different length. It is a good idea to have a new gasket but if you do not, be careful when taking off the cover as the gasket is paper and you might damage it. Now you will see the pressure plate held in place by five or six nuts, unscrew those and pull out the springs and the plate. Now you are ready to take out the clutch disks. Take each one-by-one remembering the order and beware that the last friction disc is thicker. Wash with brake cleaner spray and soak in oil (just put some oil in a bowl and submerge one by one each disk in, rib with fingers) you do that for friction discs only. Reassemble as you go. Once ready put back the pressure plate, springs, nuts. The clutch cover comes next. Just as Pete says above "make sure the dot on the arm & the dot on the case line up". Pump the clutch few times, start the engine, pump again few times and you are ready to go. Hope this helps.
