OEM tyres too soft.

The guy that runs my local bike garage explained to me that someone that he deals with in the security world won't allow the use of OEM tyres as they're too soft, thats if a client chooses to ride a motorcycle. Even if they're brand new they still replace them.
I just wondered if anyone else had heard about OEM tyres being soft.
I've picked up another puncture in my Ten, a small thorn that was quite soft.

Which OE tyres? Two were supplied as original equipment, Michelin Sirac and Metzler Tourance.

I hated those Tourances so so much. 3 punctures in 6 months. Awful.

To answer your question Pleiades they are the Tourances and I'm going to replace them soon as I hate them with a capital F.
That's just my opinion of them mind.
Not sure yet what to replace them with. Doing my homework on it.

Hmm.....

It's a balance, soft and grippy, or hard and not-so-grippy. Can't really have both.

My OE Tourances lasted 9000 miles, I've never had a tyre last that long before, TKC's are done in 1500 - 3500 miles (depending on the ride).

When you say OEM tyres are replaced, do you mean replaced with different brands? or just replaced with the same?

Wink

Re the Tourance, I know it's not very scientific, but when I got home after a 40 mile fairly spirited ride as soon as I got off the bike I put my hand on the back tyre...not particularly warm at all. With the Distanzia it used to feel hot hot hot! I'm only persevering with the Tourance as they are new and I want some money worth out of them, and like everything you get used to them. (Until I can justify a nice set of confidence inspiring Distanzia's that is!!) Steve
