It's 1am in Melbourne, and the wife and kids are sound asleep... so some time for me!!!

Firstly, Welcome to the other new Members! Looks like a few of us have joined over the last week or so.

I am a new member to your Forum and I am the proud new owner of a Low km 2008 XT660R. I have had the bike 2 weeks and have only had a few rides so far.

First impressions of my bike... I love it!
Great on the highway and open roads, and riding at high revs.
So far, enough power for me... let's see how long that lasts!

On the other hand, so far... not too great in traffic and cornering at low speeds... particularly in second gear.... I find myself having to use first gear to avoid stalling. Not sure if the gears are a bit too tall for me or the idle is too low..... or maybe I am just riding too cautiously! Still too early to say.

As far as I know my bike is 100% standard, other than factory hand guards & factory sump/exhaust guards & a Ventura Rack & Pack. I notice that there is a lot of discussion on the forum around performance modifications.
Are there some obvious shortfalls / defects with the bike from the factory? Or is the bike just detuned for different markets and emission standards?
