It turns out that there were quite a few faults. Its now had battery, reg/rect, coils, ECU/Immobilizer, relays, tilt sensor and finally speed sensor replaced. Because
of a reg/rect fault it had 36V AC surging through the electrics prior to it dying. It
fired up a few days ago for the first time in almost six months. Far too much complication for an overland bike - but at least I don't feel so bad about failing to
get it going at the roadside. Its the biggest and most costly breakdown I have had
on any motorcycle in 33 years of riding bikes. Electronics and all the associated
sensors etc are great when they are working, but its a costly exercise when it all
goes pear shaped.
