Power Commander questions
Hey folks,
I have Kev Mod , DNA Stage 1 & 2, and Kev's O2 mod fitted. I really love my bike, have done 3,800 miles in the last two months, but I just feel like it needs a little something more. Not too much, i realise it's only a 50bhp bike. And I'm not quite ready to move up to a bigger bike yet... So, here's the question: I thought about the Power Commander, which I'm probably going to buy next week and have fitted by my local shop. They have a dyno run so I can get it mapped properly. The question is regarding the KevMods. Do I need to remove them before the Power Commander is fitted, or can they live along side it? I imagine, you'd just set the KevMod to 12 o clock (OFF) forever now, since the PC does what the KevMod used to? Or should I remove it and re-solder the cable from the airbox sensor? Also, I'm not a boy racer but is there a further advantage to be gained from going Stage 3 airbox cover, or is this not really a noticeable thing? Any input would be greatly appreciated, Cheers. Steve.

If you want the goods then add a stage 3 filter + PCV with Dyno jets O2 optimizer + a custom Dyno tunned map for your bike, this combination will give you the best performance everywhere.
I would remove the Fuel mod & join the wires back to standard as the PCv will over ride the fuel mod.

Hi new to the forum here... i just want to ask one thing cause it makes me think twice before buying a PCV. do i have to go 100% for a dyno when i have it or its ok if i have a map build for akra, stage 1-2 filter found here in the maps section. people telling me from the moment i purchace the program i need to go for dyno because every bike is special..... i dont get the logic there.........??
Also using the Kev O2 Module with the pc will work fine or must be set both the Dynojet? Last edited by vasillis_n; 05-10-14 at 18:30. |

Kev's O2 controller will work with a PCV. However, if you buy a new PCV, they all now come packaged with Dynojet's O2 Optimiser anyway. Their O2 Optimiser is not available to buy as a separate part, so if you get a second hand PCV (without an O2 Optimiser), you'll probably find it easiest to get hold of Kev's O2 Controller. |

I understand that the kevs O2 controller is better from the readings i made...
I dont remember why... |

As far as I remember, Dynojet's first attempt at an O2 Eliminator (or whatever they called it then) didn't work too well, so they withdrew them and redesigned it. This might be why you have read Kev's is better? As far as I know the current Dynojet version works perfectly well and achieves the same results as Kev's O2 Controller.

With the dynojets is a fix ratio on the closed loop 13.6:1 while with kevs you can adjust it 13.2:1 A/F ratio so gives the best performance and stays on the open loop only.
Thing is that from what i understand i will be needing a map adjusted on 13.6:1 for best results in my liking with the dynojets opt. iIts not really necessary have it at 13.2:1 after all i will just need the map for the akras and 1-2 stage filter so in the highs and mids will go well. BTW i talk for the XTX no the Tenere. i post in the wrong place from the start. |

It doesn't matter, if you've got a 2007 or later XTX/R with an O2 sensor, then the principle of controlling A/F ratio is the same - it applies to all XT660s.
