Indicator Problems

Has anybody experienced any indicator problems? I have what can only be described as a sticky or non responsive switch. I can flick the switch to indicate right or left and yesterday I noticed the indicators werent coming on, if I press the indicator switch and flick again it does come on.

Its a bit alarming as I didnt really notice until yesterday as you dont tend to look down at the tell tale light, I just signal, turn and cancel the signal automatically.

I'm guessing I need to get it back to a dealer but just wondered in case it was something obvious I could quick fix myself. As I say its intermediate too, not every time.

Never had any issues like that with mine, I would suggest a good quality switch cleaner sprayed liberally into the switch and give it a good wiggling, probably just dirty contacts inside.

Theres lots of brands out there, preferbly something with a high flashpoint so that it doesnt leave any residue, sprays like wd40 leave an oily residue so are no good on electrical circuits. Ask specifically for electrical cleaner.

I agree just sounds like a dirty contact. On the positive, I've found the indicator switch on the XT to feel really firm and positive - a definite improvement than on my previous machine.

I'm gonna eat my hat! I'm having exactly the same problems...not the Irish problem (sorry to any Irish folks) yes it is no it isn'y yes it is etc...except that's for real!

9/10 it works, then it decides it doesn't want to. Oh and I've done all the spray stuff in it routine...works for a day. the dealer has sprayed stuff in there and said there's nothing wrong with it now...we shall see!

Bump from the dead, however I have just picked my XT660x up today and it is doing this exact thing, doesnt come on first, have to cancel and apply again to which the indicator comes on! very strange. Only seems to do it when the bike is being ridden too, work fine when stationary.

Very very strange.
