standard CO setting
Hi guys,
over the last two tankfulls, I noticed my mpg has dropped from 65 to 56! Could be the fuel I bought or !?? I would like to check few things, one being the CO setting (which you access via the diagnostics settings). Would anyone knoe what the standard CO setting for my bike is (XTR660R-2009) ? |

They are all different, there is no standard number across bikes
Could be so many variables, air temp, fuel temp, how you've ridden, tyre pressures, chain tension, length of trips, all could change mpg

i was thinking if there was a default number setting. from what you are saying, i guess this is not the case.
i agree with all the variables you mentioned. i have found that winter/ cold weather has the most significant effect (like for like). of course you would expect that! thanks |

The CO dash adjustment only affects the A/F ratio at idle & up to part throttle at a TPS reading of 18, after 18 on the TPS the bike switches to a pre-programmed fuel map.
Most of the 09 models CO's were set between -5 +5 in the dash.

this is exactly the info I was looking for- gold mine of information interesting about the working range of the setting. on a car i had many years ago (pre- O2 sensors, etc) it was referred to as the "static A/F mixture setting". BTW what does TPS stand for? |
