Recommend a replacement air filter XTZ

So here goes, Kev 02 and fuel mod fitted. Akrapovic exhaust, snorkel removed, so which filter should I buy to replace Yamaha filter?
Any advice welcome, experiences with K&N, Pypercross, BMC or others?

DNA gets a good wrap up, got a foamy myself but just ordered a DNA to compare the difference.

Very satisfied with Pipercross so far: Not such a big fan of cotton filters (K&N, DNA) because they could let small dust particles pass through. Examples are easy to find here in the forum and on Google...
For road use it should not be a problem, but if you also take on dusty conditions, foam is the right material in my opinion.

Nevertheless, also take the time to take off both side covers of your airbox and seal them off with grease!

Hello,

Did we come to a consensus on which air filter? Is it worth updating or just stick to the standard one?

I'm changing my exhaust, riding predominantly road (coastal) but will do a small amount of off-roading (predominantly mud/gravel). No other mods to the fuel/air system yet.

Best place to buy from?

Went with a BMC filter in the end, cotton I believe, wound the fuel mod up to 5 o clock position, made a big difference!

So True...
K&N / DNA filters are great... If yer don't go any where there could be dust....

PS.... I use a OTR form filter... Had a pipercross but the OTR filter has a lot
more surface area..

Is this the pipercross filter you're talking about? Did you declare the filter change to your insurance company?

Got me thinking now that i should change my DNA for a foam filter, i do a lot of
off roading in dusty conditions.

For me, Dirt = foam filters, for the road = DNA, the DNA flter have the flow advantages over K&N, this does not mean less filtering of the elements, the XT660 DNA filters run larger pleats than the K&N filters giving a larger filtered surface area.
