            steering bearings

Looks like my steering bearings are shot. Anyone knows what standard bearings are used in there?
             Cheers

I recently changed my head stem bearings myself. I bought the bearings from Frankston Yamaha ( non genuine) . OEM bearings are really dear.

Finished the job yesterday. The steering is almost frictionless with the wheel up in mid air and I wondered if that was too loose, if there should be a little friction there. I don't have a torque wrench to bring it to manual spec.

            This is what i did

Assuming you have a centre stand. Get someone to push down on the back of the bike so the back wheel is touching the ground and the front wheel is off the ground. You then grab the bottom of the forks with both hands and try to move them backwards and forwards. There should be no play what so ever.
