Tenere headlight beam adjustment
Hi folks,
the beam on my new Ten is on the low side. Unbelievably, the owner's book says to have the beam adjusted by a dealer! How is this adjusted or is it so difficult that only a dealer can do it! Many thanks. |

It's a piece of cake (as long as the adjuster is not seized!)
Look to the lower left of the back of the headlamp unit and you will see a knurled knob which moves the reflector inside; screw it in and out to raise or lower the beam. Sit on the bike facing a wall to check beam height/level. ![]()

Thanks for that, Pleiades - I suspected it was the knurled knobby and indeed began to twiddle it but found it extremely stiff and didn't want to force it. I may lube the thread overnight with WD40 to see if that makes it any easier.
Why oh why do m/cycle manufacturers now refer even the simplest of jobs to 'your authorised dealer'? In my old CB750 handbook all of the normal maintenance procedures are dealt with in detail....none of your 'refer to dealer' nonsense ![]() |

That knob is truly stupid and fiddly and cannot be turned with gloves on. I took the screw out completely and broke the plastic top off then welded a cross bar on. I can easily adjust the headlight now with gloves on and from the riding position, which is important when I have loads of gear on and need to reset the light height.
