Duro Tyres - Probably worth avoiding
I bought a set of these tyres just over 2 months ago, and have put about 5000 km on them, 95% on road. I happened to be looking at the rear tyre this morning and saw splits all across the centre of the tyre
![]() I suppose I am going to have to chalk this up to the adage "you get what you pay for" as it cost me AU$90 + postage. ![]() ![]() Last edited by peds650; 16-08-13 at 13:01. Reason: Thinking I know better than the computer :) |

Got the same problem with my metzeler sahara on rear after first outing offroad (aggressive surface and riding though). It was about 2k miles ago, splits are still there, but will have to change tyre soon anyway, so i'm not bothered.

I'm changing it tomorrow, don't fancy being spat off the bike doing 100kph on the Freeway

I've heard of a number of others, particularly with KLRs in the US, that have had exactly the same trouble with small cracks at the base of each knob on Duro rear tyres. Google "Duro + cracks" and you'll probably find quite a few such reports. Interestingly their 4x4 tyres suffer the same cracking issues, but on the sidewalls rather than the tread.

Thanks for that Pleiades, just looked at a few threads, some people swear by them, but most say that they are no good for sustained high speeds. I'm doing 100 km per day with about 80 km of Freeway at 100 -120 kph, this seems to be the killer for them

Mmmmm well as they come from Taiwan and China I would not be keen......my sister "saved" some cash by mounting a set of EverGreen tyres on her car and I have never driven anything like it, imagine driving on soap!! I got those replaced very very quickly, for her safety.
