hay

i need to tap into the rear brake light feed for a switched live. so i was having a poke around under the seat, i belive its the white connector??? but....am i missing something as i cant undo the connector for love nor money, its solid!!



It has three wires coming from it so i guess its just a case of finding the live one?

Also....i noticed my number plate bulb isnt working? is this likey to be the bulb do you think? (havent got chance to look at my bike as im working so much overtime at the mo. )

Yes it's that one. There's a tab somewhere, I usually poke them with a small screwdriver if pressing it down isn't enough. Haynes book says the blue/red one is the tail light live.

No plate light is probably the bulb. The plug for it is the white one behind the taillight one in your photo. You could also cut into that one for the switched live - again the blue/red one.

Ok thanks for the info. i'll swing by my Yam dealer and get a new license plate bulb, if its not that it wont harm to have a spare one.

Sorry for my lazy question but im chained to work at the mo & cant find any bike fiddling time.....plus, its rather cold in the garage

I kept losing number plate lamp bulbs (3 in the first year) due to vibes in the tail unit. Fitted an LED alternative and its lasted the past three and half years without a problem. Just a thought, but have a think about going LED.

i had the same with indicator bulbs....just shakes them to death! at some point im gonna change the tail unit to probably the R&G one (ugly i know, but its lighter) so will go LED when i get that.
