XTR problems

Having problems with XTR (2008 15k miles)
A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the headlamp was not on so I replaced bulb and fuse, however the fuse kept blowing so I took it in to local bike mechanic who after checking the bike eventually found that two wires in the loom had rubbed together causing the headlamp circuit to short out.
He fixed the problem (charging 4 hours labour) and said it may only be a temporary fix and I could have further problems
I had previously told him that the bike had occasionally stalled whilst out on run and was difficult to re-start then ran poorly after this.
He advised that the wiring was of poor quality had signs of water ingress and the ecu had a hairline crack and the cost of a permanant repair could be in the region of 1k (new ecu & loom)
I was out today on a short run and when I pulled in the clutch approaching a roundabout and the bike cut-out and was very reluctant to start then ran like a pig stalling every time I pulled in the clutch. After a half a mile or so and a few dangerous moments with impatient motorists I decided the pull over onto the footpath and switch off, After 2 or 3 minutes the bike started up easily and ran perfectly all the way home (about 10 miles)
I would be grateful if anyone who has had a similar problem or anyone who has an ideas could share there thoughts with me--cheers Dandy
