smaller screen

Has anyone got or made a smaller screen for there Ten? In the attic i have the orginal screen, was thinking of cutting it down just a touch...say..2 inch? thing is i dont want it to look like a hack job, would be nice if it looked half decent.

I used to have the tall metal mule screen which was brill...until a tumble on a down hill rocky trail

was going to buy it again and then noticed Skidmarx do a very similiar screen, think they differ but about 10mm or something. any opinions?

At the mo im riding with no screen and i must admit i really like it, the bike looks ****e though it makes the bike feel smaller and more nibble, i know its all in my head but i feel like im riding an enduro bike

Hello Phil,

you can find some pictures in the German forum

http://www.xt-660.de/forum/viewtopic...=6019&start=30

The user made the shield 10 centimeters shorter, he is satisfied. More wind, but less turbulences. For long highway traveling he uses a higher screen

Posiden has performed fairly ingenious surgery on his stock screen. I quite like the idea...

thats basically what im going to do.

So i reckon its going to be a home "cut Down" job then, any tips or tricks for doing it?

XTZ-Patrick: i like your white screen, would like to colour match mine but as my Ten is hearing aid brown i will struggle to get a decent colour match.

use tape on both sides an draw the new geometry. Cut by hand with a saw. If you want to use a jigsaw you should take a fine blade and less speed (the plastic could melt).
After the cut job you will have to sand it

google for "cut polycarbonate" (or Makrolon or Lexan)

I'd recommend masking tape on both sides then cut with a cutting disc in a 5" grinder. Careful as you go (and wear safety specs) It will melt some (minimal) but will clean up fine with a linishing disc or a sheet of sandpaper.

A professional car repairshop should be able to make the color.

If it is for any help, the paintcode for the white ten should be:
8390 BWCI, where the numbers is the RAL code, and the letters are the Yamaha specific paint code.
