Hi from Stockholm

Hi, I bought my XT660 R -04 this summer. Great bike that makes me smile every time I take it out!

When I bought it the owner had made most of the normal mods:
1&2 air filter, PC 3 (48 hp), GPR slipons, 14 frontsprocket, wider footpegs, touratec sumpguard, higher linkage bones, handelbar risers , handguards and last but not least new front springs from hlins!

This winter I'm thinking of putting on the OTR led light tail mod, maybe re-paint the plastics black, change the wheel bearings and shock dampers.

Only problem I've got is that the engine seems to consume some oil... I went on a trip to Norway (250k km) and made a oilchange before the trip. When i came back I discovered that I had to add 2-3 dl oil. There's no visible leakage, the engine runs great and there is no change in the exhaust, anyone that know of this problem?

If it isn't leaking, there's no signs of smoking, no rattles and knocks and it's performing well, could it be that you're inadvertently over-filling it? It is easily done if you check the oil level on a cold motor (like you would do on a car). 200-300ml in 250Km is a lot, but if it's over-filled it will blow out the breather quite quickly and at about the rate you describe. Oil level checks on the XT660 need to be done after the engine's been run for a bit and warmed up, but not immediately after a hard ride either as the oil will be a bit frothy and the level will read high.

Here's a thread that may help - http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=16450

Nice welcome! Thanks for the tip on the oil problem. I'm sure I've filled the right amount of oil and I know that you need to run the engine for 10 min before checking the level. So hmm...
