Tenere temporary fail.
Today my Tenere failed. The engine management light appeared while I was out on the open road, so I pulled over and shut the bike down. I waited a moment then switched the ignition back on.
Nothing at all. I had noticed the engine had been hunting, which it normally doesn't do. But now, no go at all. No instrument display, nothing on any button. I took the seat off, and found the white electrical plug attached to the battery earth wire was disconnected, but only just. This is still a mystery, as I haven't been fiddling about under the seat for ages. Reconnected the plug and instant everything again. Except the tacho was reading 2800rpm at idle instead of about 1600. Clearly it wasn't 2800. Disconnected the battery for 5 mins, re-started and gradually everything returned to normal. The previously-flashing neutral light is now stable, too. Bonus. Covered another 230km or so and everything appears normal. Weird. |

Not good...
Thanks for posting that worrying episode... Did you have lock-up?
Could you please keep us updated after you've had a chance to look more closely at the problem or had the dealer look? Cheers, Boneman |

No worries really. The engine management light came on, so I pulled over and shut down. After reconnecting the electrical plug, everything worked.
I will do some more ks when I get a chance. But I reckon it's ok. |
