Hand guards
I went to the bike shop today to book it in for its 1st service.
I happened to mention that I would be interested in a set of hand guards and the lass got the catalogue out. She then informed me that Yamaha don't make hand guards for the XTX and after a quick phone call, she told me that they never have done . Correct me if I'm wrong but did they not have them on the official Yamaha website until a few weeks ago??? |

There are loads of hand guard types out there. The yamaha hand guards are really acerbis hand guards rebranded as yamaha ones. But you can find the carbon copy ones if you search for champion hand guards

Don't suppose anyone on here has a pic of these fitted by any chance???
Plus, can you still use the original bar end weights or do these get left out? |

KTM hand guards ?
Hi,
I have the KTM ADV handguards fitted to my Ten (& Super Ten), which allow use of the bar end weights. No drilling/cutting required (except possibly to clear the brake banjo bolt) & only around 40 from KTM dealers. Although plastic, they have been rigorously tested on both , and survived unscathed, as have the levers. |

These are the yamaha hand guards that are really rebranded acerbis hand guards. They are quite expensive at around 70 but have an aluminimum bar around the back and can take some abuse with braking levers/finger etc. They do have a different insert than standard but i think it all comes with order of the hand guards. As i said before there are carbon copies of these hand guards called champion hand guards on ebay, but make sure you get the fitting kit.

I like the idea of the 40 KTM hand guards - my main reasons for wanting to install are:
1. As per my previous bike (WR250X with Zeta XC hand guards), very useful in filtering through traffic for avoiding cager's mirrors, especially when on mobile phone...... 2. Wind protection in winter So: are the KTM items any good for keeping your hands warm???? |
