It is a 12V supply for accessories. It's part of the the side light circuit, so is live with ignition and when key is in the P position.

I agree Brad, I also use this supply for my Sat Nav although I could not find the female part so cut off the original connector and used my own. Works a treat.

Connection part/photo?
Hello,
Would anyone have a photo of the actual connection lead behind the headlight cover? I have a Tenere on order and would like to source the female portion of the connector, if it is possible, before I take delivery of the bike in 2 weeks. Thanks, Bob |

There is a post here with some images...
http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=16312 However, I should point out many (including myself) have searched high and low for a connector to match to no avail! Most folk have resorted to cutting the connector off and replacing it with a more common male and female type available from auto electrical suppliers, or just soldering connections. Good luck hunting... |

I just plugged the wires in the connector and wrapped some tape around to keep them in... worked well for me. |

After finding this post i ordered the connector from easternbeaver but can say that it is NOT the right connector type. Instead I chopped off the Yam connector and got the Hitachi type connector from SGMotorsports. Cheers |
