Precision Tenere specific windscreen extension

I intend to manufacture a precision milled extension system specifically for the Tenere as I want a taller screen that I can remove when not going long distance. Not keen on the look of the universal stuff thats available on the market at present and want a more tailor made look in Aluminium and plastic.

Im an engineer and have milling machine and lathe with all the kit that I need but what I want to know is what is the general opinion regarding the optimal height over standard?

I will post pics of the completed item (will look professional not home made)and if demand exists I could offer for sale in the future with options regarding the screen height.

Any input welcome

Al.

Although dont own a Tenere but read quiet alot about them it really does all depend on who you are as some people think it buffets other get the same but say its ok, hieght or the person is a changable one as peoples spines, legs etc are all different lengths putting there head, knees, arms etc into different places causing turblence and different wind flows, also size or roundness as someone called it the other day also effects it.

But im sure someone will be along to help you with a rough esitmate size.

My saw would be make a tester first, find out what height suits you and then make one that you can adjust depending on what riding your doing. Similar to the Madstad that is make for many bikes, allows tilting of the angle and also sliding of the screen to allow a higher or lower screen.

i think a good idea would be to make a bracket that actually adjusts the rake of the screen (adjustable at diff angles) to suit riders individ problem being experienced .
i think some of the probs ,after trying various screen sizes, is from the steepness of the screen.

whats others think ?

i think if you crack this you'll be on for a few orders.
let me know how the trials go.........

Thanks guys. I have designed the initial Aly mountings in a CAD package, these will be faceted items which will securly mount an extension screen of yet to be determined height and will follow the contour of the existing screen without massive gaps as seen on other systems.

I'll gladly be a high mileage tester when they're made up.

Ditto!

I'm a courier and after 62k+ miles I wouldn't mind trying an adjustable screen extension!

Not sure how much of an issue it would be but bear in mind the oem screen is only held in place with plastic screws on plastic mountings . I've always thought it could do with extra support/bracing (connected to the satnav bracket maybe?).
Just a thought......

Cheers,
Rick
