Can anyone recommend a good place to get a custom design painted on my helmet? Anywhere in London or the South East would be handy.

I am not so sure, but if you go to any bike show there is always a couple of stands with custom graphic painters. Problem is that no one is sure if the paint it is safe to use and will not reduce the helmet shell strength. Some manufactures even suggest that you don't fit stickers on your lid. So in a way, cool yes but on your head be it, literally!
