Xt660z lowering links
Just wondered if anyone could share their experiences regarding lowering the tenere. Is a tad on the tall side for me but am worried that fitting lowering links will reduce the stability of the bike or even make it look unnaturally low at the back. Is it safe to lower the rear on its own?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Dan |

If you just drop the rear you will end up with a chopper.very slow steering... pick a point stright above the rear axle..measure to the ground... put the lowering links on..re-maesure at that point... then do the same to the front & the diffrents in the two rear measurements... drop the front the same amount... some times you may need bar risers to get the front fork legs though the top clamp enough with out them hitting the bars...

Mine was lowered (for previous owner at Yamaha dealer )
Installed lowering links (-4cm) , lowered front forks... but also ... a piece of about 2cm had been cut out of the side stand (and then rewelded)!! If you lower the bike, the side stand is too high so the bike has the tendancy to tip over when parked (a bit of strong wind could do it) So if you lower it, take a moment to look at the side stand as well ![]() I'm suffering from a "short inner leg size" as well, been driving on a lowered Tenere for 2 years now, seems to handle well imho ![]() |

Dont do it!!!!!! I had my 2008 XTX lowered and it scrapes your feet on the ground on corners when laden and the hadling was awful. My 2011 XTX is standard and 100 times better.
