Opium Wanted
Well close, but it got you looking!
For a few years my old HG Tuareg summer jacket has done me well for Green Laning. This Sunday I was out and I don't mind telling you I was bl00dy freezing! So, I'm on the hunt. I'm looking for a windproof, water resitant, jacket. Not bothered about armour as I have that sorted. I'm looking for cheap, but not to have movement restricted. Any suggestions PS - There is no right or wrong, but the lower the price the better realy, its only for off-road use.

Have you taken a look at the wolf 1987 jacket. Nice and warm, very waterproof and the armour comes out really easy.

We get opium poppies growing down our lane but there not in season at the mo. Klim always seem to get good reviews but don't seem to fulfil the cheap criteria

maybe it isn't the jacket
Prehaps your just in the wrong hemisphere at the moment. Spring moving into summer today was an excellent day for riding. So I did!

If you get cold just push the ttr up a hill for 10-20 yards, instant heat / heart failure. I'd recommend the jkt I have but doesn't look like they make/sell em anymore.
Wind/Water proof, breathable, light weight, loose fitting to get armor extra layers in, tight fitting cuffs / high collar to stop draughts and cheap. Only one choice. Army gore-tex loads of stuff out there. http://www.springfields.co.uk/bush-c...=61&largeimg=1 Preaching to the choir here but it's good advice for anyone else looking. Keep your hands and feet warm, you can have the worlds warmest coat but if your feet/hands are cold the body pumps the warm blood from the body core to the cold bits. For the tootsies Gortex boot liners really only use these in the cold or if doing a "wet one". Gloves for me the best are neoprene, really thin (I don't like thick gloves offroad), and work like a wetsuit, bit cold if they're wet when you put em back on but soon warm up. Stop the draughts getting in any cold air getting in via the cuffs or collar will soon displace the warm air generated by body heat. Layers, I use the same gear winter/summer with just different layers underneath. Use the man made stuff lighter and dries out quick. Food, take a flask for a hot drink or stop at cafe etc and get summit hot. HTH. |
