Suspension Lowering kit for 2009 Tenere

             Hello People,
I've just taken delivery of a brand new 2009 tenere, and am completely delighted with it. I'm only 5'10" and am finding it a bit of a stretch to get my feet planted firmly ,so I've been investigating the lowering links that I've seen advertised. As I'm an engineer, with access to workshop facilities, I could easily knock a pair up, but can someone out there supply me with the hole centres for lowering about 25-35mm. Metal mule do a set but only -12mm, but OTR do them -35mm My standard centres are 125mm, so I guess that I'll need wider centres to push the link further down, say 140mm-150mm?? If anyone has any info on sizes, please let me know via either a pm or a reply . Many Thanks, Wimpster. |

Careful with too big a change as it can lead to something rubbing (usually the shock/spring on the swingarm) . I seem to recall a few threads on here which may be in the subscribers sections? regarding lowering links.
I'd perserve with it for a while before making the change, try the butt cheek shuffle to get a foot down when coming to a stop, works wonders for the balance skills , ps i'm a 31" inside leg, as that its the one that counts , and can managed to paddle ok with trail boots on . Note if new the suspension does soften and sag more after a few miles running in. |

OK Mac, thanks for the advice.I'm 31" inside leg too, and can paddle about (just). I can make a few variants and try them out first. Even the metal mule ones lower things about half an inch I'm told and cost 20 pr pair. I was thinking of going from 125 ctrs to 140mm to pull it down 15mm or so. As you say however, with the miles a bit of sag can be expected so I'll persevere for now. I'm in Gatesheed too bonny lad, so if I pass a blue'un and you pass a black'un lets give each other a thumbs up,eh!!? |
