Rear Sprocket

Hi Kev (or anyone listening),

I am trying to purchase a JT rear sprocket (45tooth) and the suppliers have nil in stock with no idea when one would arrive (as per the bike shop). Does anyone know if there is one sitting around in stock somewhere or what is the best to replace it with (of the same quality or better), its to go with a JT front and a RK GB520GXW chain.

Thanks

Paul

Hello Paul, I use a 46 (for x wheel) + 48 (for r wheel) Supersprox. It's a lightweight, durable, gold coloured very good sprocket and not to expensive.

Supersprox all the time.

Steel teeth and ali body makes it a real good all -rounder that will last 3+ years on your XT.

ONly sprocket i would use.

The only other alternative is to go to Off the road.de and buy a 45t steel replacement sprocket, but for what you will pay for this and the time it will take to send it i'd go on the Supersprox website and see where your local dealer is...

http://www.supersprox.com/eshop/our_products_stealth.php

Have a look as there may be a dealer/supplier in AUS

Cheers

Paul JT sprocket are great I have used them for years.

I have in Kev's stock a brand new JT 47T rear sprocket or a almost new JT 46T that did 20kms to work & back before fitting a 48T. I perfer the quite throttle responce that the 46/48 sprockets offer. They also give less surging at traffic speeds.

The 46T will fit on a standard chain, the 47T will need one link longer then standard.

Let me know if you want one, I can post one off to you tomorrow.

47T $30.00 + postage.
46T $25.00 + postage.
Postage should be around the $12/15.

Thanks for the help Kev,
I've been running a 46 for the last 20,000Km witch was put on at the same time as the PCIII. As most of my commuting is at 80 - 100km/h (plus that little extra that's needed to keep up with the traffic) I would like to drop the revs a touch, I find that the surging is minimal (for a single) and dont think dropping back a tooth will make much difference to the surging.

You have obviously tried a variety of combinations and if you have a better idea, I'm listening.

Regards

Paul

I have tried, 15/45, 15/46, 15/47, 15/48, 16/45, 16/46.
I would try 16/46, that will give you a better cruise speed. I found 16/45 to tall for me, great if you want to cruise at 130/140KPH.

You can buy 16T in Oz.

Let me know what ratio you would like & I can check stock in Brisbane for you.

Gone awhile back, still got a brand new 47T if you want it $35.00 posted, they cost $50.00 new from the shop. 47T will not fit the standard chain, if you are doing new chain & sprockets then you will be ok with the 47T, as you can cut the chain to suite.
