I guess this could be caused by the dealer if they fit the tyre before hand over or maybe by some spaniard in the factory? anyway the bike had done just 400 miles when I noticed it.

Any idea if this would be covered by any warranty or sale of goods rights?
mmmmmmm, i don't know about that one, Tyres are obviously very much wear and tear items, and suppose it would come down to proof as they could say it happened out in the road or vandalism. sucks though

Just as you suspected, the dealer was having none of my claim despite my argument. In fact they replaced the tyre and charged me 35 labour for the pleasure. Obviously I inspected the new tyre for obvious damage and discovered the dealer had fitted a different type!! I pointed this out and the idiot at service reception would have none of my insistence that the tyre was not the specified fitment and did not match the rear.
As it happens the retards at this Vauxhall based dealer also failed to fill the oil correctly putting most of it into the radiator fins, I discovered this during my ride home when the oil sprayed itself from the radiator all over the bike and my legs! I'm going back on Monday armed with the manual to seek out the service manager and complain properly for this shocking treatment,

That sounds outrageous treatment, I would definately contest the tyre choice as a legal point as different tyres have very different handling qualities and as such need to be matched. Mind you, it wouldn't be the 1st time I have mixed tyres but that was largely for financial reasons, and didn't really notice the difference until I finally got them matched again some months later when funds allowed.

Good luck with it Rob

Had a lot of different tire combinations: no problemo.

Yesterday I had to change the front Sirac at 22000km. I like the tires (lots of grip in dry and wet) but both front and rear wore to fast (rear worn at 8000km).

Put a Heidenau K60 on the front and will put it on the back when the Battle Wing is worn.

tyres -

Had to replace my rear Sirac at 4500 miles when it wore out then the front at 6 thou - good enough tyres but the front had the bike handling like a pig for the last thousand miles.

I put a Tourance on the rear but it doesn't look like she'll last as long as the Sirac did. Running a Pirelli in front - think it is an MT90 but it was all I could get at the time. Both tyres are working well and the new front has made a tremendous difference on tarmac and on forestry roads - amazing what new rubber does for your confidence

lay-off ---

Back on the Tenere after a long lay-off to find there's almost 10,000 miles on the clock.
The front MT90 still has some life in it but the rear Tourance is goosed. No dramatics in the handling and no weave even fully laden with panniers and massive camp-bag at speeds up to an indicated 113mph. She won't go any faster

If I was buying tyres tomorrow I reckon I would get the OE Siracs and change 'em as a pair.
