Hotgrips for XT660 - Do you know a type?
I have been looking for hotgrips for my bike for months, but can not find anyone which fit a 1" (25mm) handlebar.
My bike is a standard XT660. The bar is 22mm, but the handle is 25mm... All hotgrips suits 22mm.. Like Daytona as I have been used on all my other bikes and this one from OXFORD is also for 22mm.. http://www.oxprod.com/index.php?pg=3&action=dept&id=30&pid=174&p = Do any of you know a supplier of 25mm hotgrips? HOTGRIPS IS A MUST AND I LOVE IT... Regards Per |

I dont understand this but i have a set of the Oxford heated grips that you posted in the start of this thread and it has the standard bars on still. I bought the bike with them on and they seem to fit fine. They work great and give plenty of heat for my fingers. Dont understand how my bike is different!!!

Are heated grips worthwhile or are they just for ladyboys? I can understand on a long trip in the cold but riding around town they seem soo pointless?!

heated grips
I thought exactly the same. Bought a blade that had heated grips and thought it would be the first thing to change. Like anything else, never got around to it, then had a trip to make on really cold day. Thought as they were fitted might as well give em a try. Absolute god send. Thinking of sticking a set on the xt for winter as i use it every day. (aint got around to that either !!!!! )

they are like pringles once you pop you just cant stop. I was the same didnt have a bike with them thought , ohhhh lost are for women. Got my first bike with heated grips and i have never looked back. so good, keep your hands warm, help you control the bike, ease pain etc etc. For 45 for some oxfords they do work.
In town they still work its just when you keep grabbing the clutch or brake lever the metal is very cold and cools your hands very quickly. I have thought about putting some very fine padding on the brake and clutch lever to try and stop this but havent got round to it. I know you can buy something like this. Its that there or buy those big hand mitts which i dont really like but might have to get.

Must admit my girlfriend had them fitted to one of her bikes and they are a god send, I have fitted them to every bike I use to get into work with, I do 24 miles each way and during the winter they make such a difference, I also use Oxford muffs this keep the heat in even better, they now get so hot I have to take my hand out to cool them down, the oxford heated grips are the only ones I ahve tried the 07 and the new 08 models, the 08 I think have a less useful switch just 2 button to increase the heat and reduce while the old one was a push button and then worked a bike like a volumn swtch (much better) but either way I'd rather be called an old woman by a biker who is unable to open his hands due to cold fingers, than not have them.

I must still be drunk after New Year celebration, because I am so stupid
The bar is 22mm and the handle is 25mm (THAT IS STANDARD) and all hotgrips are made for 22mm bars.. 1 set is, one for the bar (22mm) and one for the handle (25mm).. I mixed them up and did not noticed the difference Conclusion: All 22mm hotgrips fit and HOTGRIPS are a must, not only for the ladies.... I have bought a set from www.louis.de, called Daytona with a switch for off/20/60w and they work perfect. Sometimes I even have to remove my hands slightly to cool them down. |
