Smile Fancy a Black XT660Z myself

I'm test riding a Tenere soon and if I like it then I'll be getting one in addition to my XTX.

The first thing I'd want to change is the pipes. Fran said Mivv do some but I can't se em on the site.

The Akros look good but does anyone have em fitted.

If so are they as easy to do as the XTX and are they nice n loud?

And finally do they improve performance much?

I considered the Akrapo's, but at 500+ I though it was a bit much for a not alot of gain. You loose about 1/2 Kilo in weight due to the loss of the cat - still can't find anyone who has tested these on a dyno. My guess is the difference won't really be worth the 500. I think these are just a case of getting around the Euro3 standards to allow a bike without a Cat (for African etc)

The standard can is pretty loud anyway - I'd suggest living with the bike for a while before making a choice.

Changing the can isn't as easy - and I've never done one on a X. But I have fitted the yam luggage rails and it's a bit of a fiddle getting under there.

BTW - the bike starts to open up after 8000 miles, to the point that I can't see any real reason to change from the standard setup.

Oh, and the insurance company (Carol Nash) couldn't quote me for the Akrapo's, although this was in June so it might not be the case now

Or try the Leovince SBK exhaust system, fits very well, sounds good(without db-killers pretty loud), less weight, performance wise I don't know(yet). The Tenere is a fine motorcycle, allround allroad, up to almost anything(long hauls, twisty mountain- and back roads, offroad(with the right tyres), heavy traffic etc) and lots of fun to ride. Ya won't regret gettin'a Tenere, one thing though: you'll always want to ride some more! Greetz, Hans.

P.s.: some piccies added as teasers!

You know, you already have the fastest colour, so that really sorts it. Black is by FAR the faster option! You wouldn't need new pipes on a Midnight Black Ten ;-)
