Forum closing down reminder
Dear all we are approaching the end of 2018, and for all those new members who joined this forum I'd like to point out that 2019 will be our last year online since our official launch in 2006.
The XT Supporters membership scheme will only allow members to join this elite group for 15 days while existing members of the XT supporters can only renew their membership one last time until 31st Dec 2018 What can I say it's been a blast, and a very very VERY long journey. I want to thank every one of you for a number of reasons, first of all you have been the greatest, you have kept this place informative and mature, for me it has been a pleasure to manage and support this platform because with you have made it easy and at the same time enjoyable. We all know the nonsense that usually goes on in other motorcycle forums, the rivalry, the keyboard warriors and the sub groups of brand loyal fighters that constantly abuse each other, such a waste of resource. We've had nothing like that in here, we've always been all in the same boat and for one reason only, and that was to share info, tips and our enjoyment of these wonderful bikes. But like anything in life, the best thing always come to an end and we find ourselves moving on with the times. If Yamaha had not discontinued the XT range, but instead improved it and issued updated models, I and many here would have had the spirit and the inclination to carry on, but it wasn't to be. Sadly there'll be no more XT's until Yamaha decides to relaunch them again. And who is to say that won't happen in future? After all the last Yamaha XT of the 80's stopped being produced in 1986 and then BANG! all of the sudden the 2004 range was relaunched again and with that the X the R and 3 years later the Tenere.660Z and later even the XT1200Z. I hope they do because there will always be a great interest in these bikes and they really are legendary. Sadly if they reissue the XT range, someone else will have to take the trouble to start a dedicated website and forum or other social media group, just as I did all those years ago. I am out of this game for good, and will continue my other hobbies such as photography, filming and editing, and of course music and shooting rifles. Hope you all have a great 2019 and whichever bike you ride, stay safe and keep it up right at least on one wheel, if you must. It has been great dealing with all of you. |
