yamaha 660xtx dies when in neutral
My bike had this problem a few times last year but this month it became much worse. Sometimes, lets say 2 out of 10 times it will die when i put it in neutral or when i hold the clutch. The more troublesome fact is that it will also happen while riding... let's say i'm driving 50km/h and i will shift from 4th gear into 3rd. The moment i let go of the clutch and start to add a bit of throttle it dies.
Or sometimes when in neutral and if i add just a little bit of throttle really fast it dies aswell. Sorry for weird english Anyway, any idea whats wrong? All help appriciated. |

Welcome to the forum...Have you done a search of the forum?..First thing to clarify is your idle speed..should be around 1450/1500rpm

Yep first thing I would check. My old xt660 would do same thing when dropping down a gear from time to time. It was the idle speed. You adjust it from the clocks

I've been doing some reading on the forum. I followed the steps to check rpm when the bike is idle. It's around 800-1000 and when it falls to 700 it dies. So i'm gonna try to get it up to 1400-1500 when idle tomorrow and i'll tell you if the issue is fixed. But i wonder what could cause this? Maybe something is wrong with the bike for this to happen? Anyway, thanks for the answers!
