Sprocket carrier and cush drive advice

Hiya, I had my mechanic fit a rear tyre whilst doing an MOT on my 08 xt660z today and he said he had to put a new sprocket carrier bearing in because the cush drive was knackered. He said I need cush drive and carrier asap and a new chain and sprockets to follow cos they'd worn unevenly due to the worn sprocket carrier and cush drives.
I'll get the cush drives no prob but is there a way of checking the carrier for wear once I've installed new drives or should I just change both?
Also, does the z share its sprocket carrier with the x and r do you know?

Cheers

Jay

All sounds quite plausible. Everything is inter-related. If the cush drive is knackered and not attended to the sprocket carrier bearing wears quicker and, as the whole thing gets sloppy, the chain (and sprockets) will start to wear in odd ways.

If in doubt, change both if both are worn. It's not expensive, or particularly difficult, and will give peace of mind. It is not easy to check the sprocket carrier bearing for wear without taking the wheel out and the carrier to inspect.

The sprocket carrier and cush drive is the same on all XTs.
