Two Wheeled Celt

Hello
Newbee here.
Ive owned my tenere for 2 weeks now, coming from a kle500 with Dunlop trailmax's on.
I'm quite shocked at how easy the backend goes loose, especially under braking.
It seems to me as if the tourances don't like wet or damp roads.
My riding is only on roads but I do travel along a lot of asphalt country lanes.
I cannot ride the tenere to the same limit as my old Kwaka.
I guess it's the weight of the bike or the dunlops being a little softer than the tourances.
Tyre pressures are correct.
Awesome bike though. If only I'd ridden an xtz before, I would've bought one years ago.
Ian.

Welcome on board Ian.

I've moved your post to make a new thread of your own - so you can bathe yourself in the attention for a while!

You're probably not used to the raw power of the XT!

Speaking from personal experience, I didn't get on at all well with the OE Tourances. Not great in the wet, very poor on raised markings and manhole covers etc. You'll have to try something different? Mind you, I have used Trailmax on the Tenere, and I was reasonably impressed with them in most conditions. So maybe it's "better the devil you know"...

Welcome to the funny farm!!!

I hate my Tourances and have switched to Heidenau K60 Scouts which I was very impressed with.

Have also binned the Tourances off my 1200 GS and now playing on Trailmax rubber. Equally impressed but not done anything other than road miles as yet.

Change to tyres you know and are happy with, then you'll feel how good the bike is.

Sandman.

Mine also came with Tourances which were quickly binned and replaced with Heidenau K60 Scouts which really suit the bike

Welcome from another Tourance hater!! I put Mitas E07 on my Tenere which I've owned for about a month now. Excellent tyres! Where are you based? I see the Celt in post title - so Scotland or Ireland? :-)

Smile

Thank you for welcoming me to the forum. Its great to see such a strong following for the yam xt660. It shows how good the bike is!
Thank you all for your feed back, it's reassuring to see that other people dislike the oem tyres.
Now I've got to make a tyre choice!
As for the rest of the bike I'm going to fit a centre stand and may be a slight lowering kit as I'm a bit vertically challenged being 5'9''

Just to point out to ChrisHX I'm Welsh.
Someone has to be!

Keep safe out there.
