Talking Oil change 2009 xt660r

Hi there about to change oil and filter on my 2009 xt 660 r can anyone recommend the best oil and grade bike done 7 k

10 w 40 is the grade and really any bike oil is ok, more expensive normally though is better, or you can change cheaper oil more often. just make sure it's not car engine oil as they have additives aren't good for bike engines.

I've always used Motul 5100 10w40 semi-synthetic, which is the same stuff as the Yamaha dealers use (but branded as Yamalube) and it's half the price.

By far the cheapest place I've found it is from the Motorcycle Road & Race ebay shop at �29.99 for 5L with free delivery. Be careful when comparing prices as it is also sold in similar looking packaging but only containing 4L.

Motul 5100 is all I use in the XTR & TTR...
Even the dam lawn mower has motul in it..

Same here! I use Motul 5100 10w40 in everything except 1150GS gets 20w50 ... lawnmowers get whatever I have most of ;-) Didn't know Yamalube was the same stuff - interesting. I get it trade price from a mate luckily.
