Co has it been altered?

Hi all, just had a peek at the CO on my 06 xtr (pre o2) and it was set to 20 the bike as far as i can see is fully stock. does this setting sound right for this model?

Cheers
Si

Difficult to say really... They were/are all released with different CO1 settings - not two the same. There is no "default" setting. 20 could well be what it was originally, but it could quite easily have been altered. If your bike is totally stock then the likelihood of someone having messed about with the CO is probably reduced somewhat.

No harm in changing it and seeing if it makes any difference though? You can always go back to 20 if need be...

Mine was up in the 20's. Set it back to zero after kevs mods. tried -5 - +10 and didn't seem to make a lot of difference (unlike the kev mods ; ) )

Mine was set at -18 when I got the bike ('06 XTX) - moved it up in +5 increments all the way to 20, keeping the tps around 16 - didn't seem to make much difference to surging.

Installed KevMod, Kev recommended setting the CO at 10 - slightly better as far as surging goes, but not a massive improvement.

Kev will be along soon to give you more advice, but I would try to raise the CO still in increments of 5 until things improve. First and foremost, make sure your tickover or idleing speed is set to be between 1450 and 1550 rpm at least to avoid the bike to starve at close throttle, which is one of the main reason for surging. Also adjust your chain slack if excessive.

Good luck
