After seeing this thread about BMW 650GS forks failures I started to worry about that part in motorcycle. Have something like that ever happened to yamaha bike???

Not seen or heard of anything like that on an XT?
The casting on an XT is much more beefy at that point. Also I think the BMW forks are only 41mm too? However, it is not uncommon of for over-tightened pinch bolts to cause the axle mounting hole to crack on the right hand leg on XTs. They don't need tightening up nearly as much as a lot of people think!

As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to be a common problem with the BMWs. Admittedly, I didn't read the whole thread. The armchair lawyers got a bit repetitive. I guess we shouldn't be too surprised about stuff like this. Everyone wants bikes to be lighter/faster/stronger and cost peanut money. Factories have to make money... |

It's steel (with alloy swing arm on <2007 XTX and all XTZs). |

Sorry, you misunderstood me. I was being sarcastic. There is no way, ever, that shoddy, cheap workmanship or design should be tolerated in any vehicle.
