Hi guys,

I see few xt owners have replaced the OEM forks with USD ones. I am looking at YZ's or WR's. Can you please advise on your experience? Practically any of those should work but still some first hand knowledge is helpful.

Mods so far:

If you what the cheapest solutiin look what bearings you have and compare them with other bearings from yamaha motocross/enduro models. One here on xt660 mounted a KLX650c front USD fork almost bolt on, read that or take the nearest USD you can find and let a workshop fix you stem to fit the other forks clamps.

I mounted a WP fork on my XT and you can read it under suspension. Now I own a TT600RE and had also change that fork to a WP USD.

03 CR250 USD forks only require the top bearing to be changed...
And a set of steering stops to be made & bolted to the bottom

I have '09 YZ 48mm USD forks on my XTR, xt and yz steering stem are 30mm in the lower part, so you can use xt OEM lower bearing.
On top the yz stem is 28mm and the xt one is 25mm. I machined the yz stem to 25mm to fit the xt OEM top bearing.
I had to do new tread to fit the xt nut (the one that presses the top bearing) and the nut that goes in top of the superior clamp I used the yz one.

You can fit the xt stem into the yz clamps too.

Sorry for my english but I'm in my third beer in a bbq and now I wonder how I can remember all this measurements!
So, if finally you go this way ask me whatever you want.
