Cracked Front rim xt660r

Hi guys, I seem to have cracked my front rim, I think I did this a couple of months ago in morocco, the bike has been in the garage and I have been away so only noticed it this afternoon anyways I have had a look around (ebay) for a replacement then OTR and the excel rims 249 with stainless spokes.
Now I am a numpty so your knowledge and advice on swapping the rim over would be great )
Or does anyone have a tidy front wheel for sale ?

I am thinking about the excel rim as I hope to go back in the autumn and the stronger rim will be worth it in the long run

It is quite possible for a novice to change over a rim and spokes, but it will be very time consuming and you are very unlikely to get it perfectly true first attempt (speaking from bitter experience!) Everyone has to start somewhere, and if you don't give it a try you'll never learn how to do it. Depends whether you want to improve your skill set?

However, I'd say you're probably better off finding a local wheel builder who'll do it for you in a couple of hours and get it spot on first time. You should be able to get it done for between 60 and 90 in labour.
