Just got back and brrrr! a bit breezy and cool but nonetheless dry!! Anyway, I have to admit I did have the intentions of being determined not to like this bike, comparing it to my Fazer 1000 I'd just swapped it against after 3 years. And my next mission would be replacing it after just 2 weeks and 50 miles.......BUT.... Once I'd stopped focusing on what the xtr did not do or how it did not behave like the fazer , I relaxed and then noticed what the xtr did do, then to my delight I was riding around the country lanes grinning like a Barbary ape, the fazer hated these roads..... the xtr loved em!!!!!!!!!!!! couldn't get enough ha ha ha!!! I was off like hell' i'd only been on it an hour ... tight bends... big handle bars... perfect! AND sleeping policemen/ road bumps.... ha ha ha again!! flew over em... what a bl**dy corking ride out...... what a bl**dy corking bike!! ... and the coffee... was indeed froffy!! Tony

Yep! I totally get what you mean. I have a BMW K1200R Sport which is SORN'd for the winter and I've been going out in all weathers and the sh*ttiest roads on my XTR and having an absolute blast. It just seems to be so capable and sure-footed on the back roads. It could be that I'm less worried about dropping it than the K12 but even small slides just have me grinning instead of making my a*se twitch. I suppose having only 48HP if the right wrist control is lacking finesse helps too!
